For those who may not be familiar with Wakayama Prefecture, here’s where it’s located.
This location is south of Osaka.
BORUTO
This is a famous spot where you can see European-style streetscapes. It feels like the title of some manga, but this place also features beautiful nighttime illuminations. Admission is free, but there is a charge for the rides.
KUSHIMOTO KAICHU PARK
There’s a rare opportunity to interact with sea turtles in Japan. You can touch baby turtles and see them up close, making this a hugely popular spot for children in Wakayama Prefecture. As it’s a famous aquarium, both adults and children can enjoy themselves here. Highly recommended.
KISYU UMEBOSHI MUSEUM
In Japan, there is a pickled plum called umeboshi, made by fermenting plums. Wakayama Prefecture is famous for its umeboshi, and among them, the Kishu region produces many high-quality umeboshi with an elegant flavor.
How did you like Wakayama Prefecture? Since this area is divided into northern and southern parts, traveling between them might be a bit challenging. Although we couldn’t cover it this time, the Shirahama area is famous for its beautiful coastline. It’s definitely a place we recommend visiting during the summer season.
